Why You Need This Peeling Solution from The Ordinary
Blemishes, fine lines, and textures – they are all normal skin events. However, thanks to science, we are able to address these! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything to those who’ve fully accepted all their skin concerns. However, since skincare products have evolved through time, it’s a bittersweet moment to give in and, at least, give them a try. Long live the craze for young and healthy-looking skin, that’s why I wanted to try The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution.
I saw The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution some time ago and, honestly, it is intimidating. I haven’t tried any skin care product as close to its bloody red color. Also, it’s an acid exfoliant which is very much new to me. Nonetheless, I really wanted to try it because a lot of reviews rave about it! This product claims to give deeper exfoliation to fight visible blemishes. Secondly, it helps improve skin radiance. Thirdly is to improve the appearance of skin texture. Lastly, the look of fine lines will be reduced with continued use.
Indeed, exciting! Keep on reading if you want to know more about this product!
Key Ingredients:
30% Alpha Hydroxy Acids (glycolic/lactic/tartaric/citric)
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin’s topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. The surface skin cells, particularly dead skin cells, will be shed off and allowing new skin cell generation. AHAs are generally recommended for normal to dry skin types, and sun-damaged skin according to Byrdie. This is due to AHA’s ability to improve the skin’s natural moisturizing factors. Collagen production is also stimulated through AHA, hence reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
2% Beta Hydroxy Acid (salicylic acid)
Beta hydroxy acids (BHA) also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. It is well-known for its anti-acne and skin-calming features. Its difference to AHA is that BHA can penetrate deeper than the skin’s surface. It helps even out textures, and addresses clogs, blemishes, and large pores.
Hyaluronic Acid Crosspolymer
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is further supported with a crosspolymer form of hyaluronic acid for comfort. Secondly, this ingredient is responsible for giving additional hydration and anti-aging properties.
Vitamin B5
Also, Vitamin B5 is present to assist healing and to keep the skin moisturized. Moreover, Vitamin B5 works like magic to prevent skin redness and inflammation. To add, this also has antioxidant and anti-aging properties.
Black Carrot
Black carrot is also rich with antioxidants.
Tasmanian Pepperberry
This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time.

Smell:
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution has a strong acidic smell to it. Somehow, it reminds me of something that’s fermented, like a vinegar or a wine.
Price:
I got the Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution at Lazada for P290.00. It’s a steal since its original price is P699.00
Application:
I’m hopeful that I won’t have irritations because of this product since its pH is approximately 3.6. That’s also the same number for the Glycolic Acid pKa. Since these numbers are close to each other, there is a balance between salt and acidity, hence the ensured maximum effectiveness of the acid while reducing irritation.
According to the website and on the packaging, the Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution must be applied as follows:
- Clean face and wait for skin to dry. Do not use on wet skin.
- Apply evenly across face and neck using fingertips, avoiding the eye area.
- Leave on for no more than 10 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
As per my experience, I didn’t feel any irritation or tingling sensation when I did a patch test and when I applied it already on the face. I let it stay on my face for 4 minutes since it is my first time to use it. I like how it easily glides on the face since it has a serum-like consistency. However, I observed that it left a bit of stain on my fingers so expect that to happen.

Verdict: I recommend The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
Claims:
- Fight visible blemishes
I agree! I observed minimal changes in the color of my blemishes! Also, I observed it the morning after and I love the effect it gave me!
- Improve skin radiance
I don’t agree with this one. I expected a smooth and healthy skin just like how my skin felt during the patch test. Actually, my skin felt a bit dry and I know I needed to apply moisturizer.
- Improve the appearance of skin texture
I agree with this one! Although this product was not able to improve the stubborn texture on my nose, it was able to make my cheeks look even.
- Reduce the look of fine lines with continued use
I’ll say pass on this claim. I’ll update this blog post after a month of using this product! I’m so excited!
