Makeup Breakdown

Packaging:

Revlon PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution

The Revlon PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation comes in a plastic tube container with a pump which is very handy for travel. Indicated are details such as its shade, ingredients, where it is made, and its PAO of 24 months. It weighs 0.75 Fl. Oz.  or 22mL of product. The product is made in USA.

Shade:

According to the Revlon website, there are 31 makeup shades yet there are only 12 shades available in the Philippines. Specifically, they are as follows from lightest to darkest:

  • 200 or Nude
  • 210 or Natural Ochre
  • 230 or Bare
  • 270 or Medium Beige
  • 300 or Dune
  • 320 or Tawny
  • 330 or Light Honey
  • 350 or Natural Tan
  • 400 or Macadamia
  • 430 or Honey Beige
  • 440 or Caramel
  • 500 or Almond

I bought 320 or Tawny and I consider it a tad bit lighter than my shade. However, with one pump, its coverage is not too full. Hence, it appears to blend with my complexion.

Smell:

Although the foundation claims that it feels better without the oils, parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes alongside harsh fragrances, its smell bothers me. The smell leans towards a strong chemical odor that resembles sunscreen.

Application:

Based from Revlon, the recommended application process is as follows:

  1. Dispense the product on the Dual Sided Applicator, or Buffing Foundation Brush, or fingers.
  2. It is advised to start with less product and work your way through since it has a buildable formula and coverage.
  3. Blend the product from the skin starting from the center of the face outward
  4. For optimal result, use the Photo Ready Candid Anti-Pollution Setting Powder.

For this review, I applied this foundation using a flat top synthetic brush. I would say that I prefer to use a brush than fingers in applying this product. I did not experience any difficulty blending this product. With one pump, I was able to achieve a medium coverage. Two pumps is enough for full coverage. There was no patchy areas, but it clung on my dry chin. However, I observed that it has a luminous finish. I think that it also made my skin texture more obvious.

Performance:

  • Upon Application (6 AM)

Upon application of the foundation, my skin looks healthy because of its luminous glow. Although, its formula is not that moisturizing because it was not able to improve my chin’s appearance. I didn’t experience any problem buffing the foundation using the brush. With two pumps, I was able to achieve full coverage that remains skin-like.

  • 3 Hours After Application (9 AM)

After three hours with no retouch, this is how the foundation looked on my skin. The coverage is still there, but there appears to be a bit of fading on the side of my cheekbone. It may be because I didn’t set that area with powder. I only applied powder under my eyes and on my T-zone. Hence, to be sure that this stays for a long time, it is important to set this with powder.

  • 6 Hours After Application (12 NN)

The product has stayed on its place on the center of the face, since that was where I concentrated the product. There’s a bit of fading on my nose bridge, and on the side of my cheekbones. At this time, I started to unlike the product. It felt a bit tacky, and my skin felt tired like it has trouble breathing.

  • 9 Hours After Application (3 PM)

Nine hours have passed and I already felt the urge to remove my makeup. I could feel that my skin is starting to get oily which drives me a little bit off. However, the coverage remains to be the same from the 6th hour mark. Although it has completely faded on the sides of my nose, it is because of my constant touching and rubbing.

  • 12 Hours After Application (6 PM)

The foundation has already been on my face for 12 hours. I was impressed of its longevity, although its coverage didn’t stay as full as when first applied. The product is not capable of oil control, hence it is important to set it and retouch with powder.

Verdict: I don’t recommend this product!

Claims:

  • Long-lasting flawless finish

Coverage-wise, this foundation remained to have full coverage until the 3rd-hour mark. It remained to have medium coverage 9 hours after application, while light coverage on the 12th-hour mark. This foundation needs to be set with powder to ensure that it would last longer. In terms of flawless finish, make sure that you have a well-moisturized face before applying this foundation. It enhances the skin texture, fine lines, and dry patches.

  • Medium coverage, weightless and natural finish

I agree that this foundation has a medium coverage, which can be achieved with 1 pump. However, I don’t agree that it is weightless. Its formula is a bit thick and tacky when first applied. It can’t control oil, hence retouch is needed. I asked a few of my workmates regarding its finish and mostly were not impressed because it doesn’t look natural.

  • Feels good while protecting the skin without harmful ingredients and harsh fragrances

I was only able to use this foundation for a few times already. It would be unfair to conclude that it is able to protect my skin. Nonetheless, I would like to comment on its fragrance. During application, its scent similar to sunscreen, lingers for a while. Since I’m sensitive with scents, this threw me off.
