We’ve officially made it to the final trimester! Reaching this milestone has been a complete whirlwind of pure excitement, intense nesting, and, you guessed it, tracking down our third trimester expenses as we make our final preparations for baby’s arrival.
If you’ve been following along on the blog, you know how much I love keeping track of where our money goes as we navigate parenthood. After breaking down our First Trimester Expenses and Second Trimester Expenses, our budget this time around shifted heavily from basic setup to real-deal baby gear, birth prep, and a lot of essential health items.

Where Did Most of the Money Go?
When looking closely at our third trimester expenses, two major categories stood out: Medication & Supplements and Baby Gear, which together made up almost 40% of our total spend.
1. Baby Gear (₱11,331.00 – 19%)
The biggest highlight of our third trimester purchases went straight into our nesting strategy! The absolute star of this category was our Looping Stroller + Carseat Carrier. When it comes to gear that handles daily mobility, comfort, and safety, we wanted something reliable and smooth. Investing in a high-quality travel system gives us total peace of mind as we gear up for future outdoor strolls.
2. Medication & Supplements (₱10,904.73 – 19%)
Keeping both baby and mama healthy became our absolute top priority as we edged closer to D-Day. Aside from our daily prenatal vitamins, iron, and calcium supplements, our expenses in this category picked up as we approached the finish line.
As the weeks went on, we also had to account for a few extra health needs—including prescription medications to manage blood pressure, treatment for a minor infection, natural supplements to help prepare the body for labor, and essential maternal vaccines like TDAP and the flu shot. It’s definitely an easy category to underestimate, but following our OB’s recommendations every step of the way was non-negotiable for us!
Medical Checks & Labor Prep
Doctor visits and hospital prep picked up significantly during these final weeks as our appointments shifted to weekly checkups:
Lab Tests & Screenings (₱8,125.00 – 14%): We had routine third-trimester checks including a CBC, Urinalysis, GBS swab, multiple Biophysical Profile Tests and Non-Stress Tests (NST), plus Prostaglandin Gel as part of labor induction prep.
Doctor Visits (₱3,500.00 – 6%): Five separate prenatal visits with our OB as we counted down the days! This was covered by HMO.
Nesting, Nursery, & Baby Essentials
The third trimester is when nesting hits hard. A good portion of our third trimester expenses went toward stocking up on everyday bath and laundry items and organizing tiny outfits:
Clothing & Linens (₱6,339.00 – 11%): A mix of affordable online finds, soft muslin swaddles, secondhand budget steals, and fabric storage organizers to keep all those tiny outfits prepped and sorted.
Baby Hygiene (₱5,073.50 – 9%): Stocking up on essential gentle bath products, baby-safe laundry cleansers, a baby bathtub, and everyday grooming and care tools.
Nursery Furniture & Decor (₱2,854.50 – 5%): Practical organizing setup pieces—like a rolling cart, room organizers, curtains, frames, and a couple of sweet bedtime storybooks for the nursery.
Feeding & Diapering (₱4,421.80 combined): Preparing for newborn care with essential bottle sets, milk collectors, cup feeders, bulk diaper packs, and soothing diaper cream.
Mom Recovery & Practical Extras
We also made sure not to forget postpartum recovery items and small administrative tasks:
Body Care & Recovery (₱2,204.00): Gentle care tools for healing like Lansinoh Nipple Cream, Witch Hazel Perennial Spray, and a bidet bottle.
Comfort & Support (₱958.00): A solid pregnancy support belt, compression socks for swollen feet, and a cooling head wrap gel.
Documents & Admin (₱1,199.00): Securing official paperwork like our Marriage Certificate and downloading a Pregnancy Contraction Timer App.
Final Thoughts
Looking back at our entire pregnancy budget journey, tracking every single peso gave us so much peace of mind. While our third trimester expenses were a wild mix of anticipation, medical checkups, and last-minute runs, knowing we were financially prepared made everything feel so much lighter.
