Makeup Review: Fenty Beauty Morrocan Spice Palette, Pro Filt’r Eye Primer, and FlyLiner Eyeliner

Diamonds, Wild Thoughts, California King Bed, Stay and Love on the Brain – these are just some of Rihanna’s top hits in the music industry. My love for her attitude, her passion and strong character, dedication, versatility and creativity made me fall in love with her. In fact, it was easy to fall in love with her. The way she dress is unique, and I love how she slays everything she wears. She doesn’t mind what others say, as long as she does what she wants; as long as she’s happy about it. It’s no surprise that brands have collaborated with such queen. Fashion brands such as River Island, Puma, Balmain, Dior, and Stance were just some of her jaw-dropping moments that got everyone shookt. She made all the hearts throb even more when she announced her Fenty Beauty line.

Fenty Beauty was released September of 2017. As Rihanna’s avid fan, I knew I had to get my hands on the collection. I swooped like a hungry vacuum the Pro Filt’r Foundation, Invisimatte Blotting Powder, Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo, and Gloss Bomb. I just can’t let it go, most specially because her campaign revolved around inclusivity – regardless of what skin color and race. The beauty mogul kept on launching stunning products on her makeup line. There’s the Galaxy Collection, Beach Please!, Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipsticks, and of course her latest releases – two new eyeshadow brushes, Morrocan Spice Palette, Pro Filt’r Amplifying Eye Primer, and Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner.

The palette, eye primer and eyeliner looked so inviting and sumptuous, and because of my impulse-buying habit, I bought the three items from Sephora.ph.

Fenty Beauty Morrocan Spice Palette

Priced at P3,450 from Sephora.ph

Makeup Breakdown

Packaging:

The palette comes in a plastic package where fingerprints easily stamp on it. It’s hefty in a luxurious way whenever held. Thus, one could instantly say that it’s really a luxe product. It has a large mirror when opened. There is no eyeshadow brush with it and shades are not written beside the shades.

Shade:

There are a total of 16 shades in the palette. There are neutrals, bold colors, shimmers and foils – all unique and stunning AF. Also, their names do not come short. Cumin Get It was the favorite transition shade, Shisha Smoke gives, of course, the perfect smokey eye look, and Evil Genie is the cult-favorite pop of blue which Riri debuted on her Wild Thoughts music video. However, I really experienced difficulties whenever I try to find the shade names. I had to look at the back for the shade name, and I sometimes get confused.

According to Fenty Beauty, each S on the palette could already be an eyeshadow look. The four shades on the left could be a look already for a “Smoky Cool”, followed by “Berry Bold” which is the next S, then “Spicy Hot”, and lastly is “Savory Neutral”.

Smell:

No smell at all!

Application:

All the shades are very pigmented. The foils and shimmers were the most creamy while the matte shades were a bit blotchy when I swatched on the skin. However, when I applied them on the lid with an eyeshadow brush, they were phenomenal. It was easy to blend everything; either alone or when mixed with the other shades.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Amplifying Eye Primer

Priced at P1,250 from Sephora.ph

Makeup Breakdown

Packaging:

The eye primer comes in a baby-pink elongated glass-matte packaging. It feels very luxurious when held. The applicator is designed like a Q-tip applicator but holds only the right amount of primer adequate for both eyes. I find no need to re-dip.

Shade:

The eye primer has no shade. There is no cast after applying and blending it on the lids.

Smell:

No smell at all!

Application:

I found the eye primer very easy to blend, and the best way to do so is using the finger; preferably ring finger. I used a dabbing motion to spread and evenly cover the primer on my eyelids. When it has set, the primer has a very tacky feeling. My lids tend to stick on my fingers when I touch it, and some of my lashes were clinging to the product.

Fenty Beauty Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner

Priced at P1,150 from Sephora.ph

Makeup Breakdown

Packaging:

The eyeliner is packaged in a triangular-shaped metallic gold pen. It feels lightweight yet it does not slip off easily from grasp. The eyeliner pen has a small item inside, which I assume is a ball, that when shook, helps in the disposal of the tint.

Shade:

Currently, (yes, I’m expecting more shades haha!) the eyeliner comes in one shade – Cuz I’m Black. The shade is its truest black.

Smell:

No smell at all!

Application:

The ergonomics of the eyeliner is perfect for stable hands, as it is designed similarly to the pencils of kids who are still learning to write. It has a brush tip applicator but I observed that the tip does not bend easily and it’s very easy to maneuver. This is the only eyeliner which I did not experience any kind of difficulty in drawing a line, whether it’s thin and close to the lash line, or intense and dramatic. Also, I did not have to shake the pen every now and then because its tint is enough for both of my eyes.

Performance:

To fully see how the palette, eye primer and eyeliner works, I made a video about it. It was more of a chit-chat makeup video which I filmed late nighttime (I apologize for my bedroom voice lol). The makeup looks were about three levels of spiciness, which this palette is about. I did a makeup look that is mild spicy, medium spicy and spicy AF.

Verdict:

  1. Morrocan Spice Palette claims to have rich, velvety and sumptuous shades which are long-lasting. I truly agree. Everytime I pack or blend the shadows on my lid, I always feel so sexy, excited and edgy. This makes me feel like I can rule the world.
  2. Pro Filt’r Amplifying Eye Primer claims to boost and extend the wear time of the shades. Also, it says that it is weightless, smoothing, and crease-proof. There is a vast difference when I tried to swatch the shadows alone compared to when there was the eye primer. I did not experience any difficulty blending, and the shades are really true to color. What you see on the pan is really how it is when blended or packed. So far, this is the most powerful eye primer I’ve ever used.
  3. Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner claims that it stays on for a long time, has hyper-saturated color, and fade- and water-proof. All I can say is, this became my favorite Fenty Beauty makeup product. There’s absolutely no problem drawing a line, no matter how thick or thin.

If I were to classify the three products, I’d say that the Flyliner is my top 1 recommended, followed by the palette, then the primer. However, if you can grab these three, I’m sure you’d have no regrets. I highly recommend all of them! Thank you so much guys for your time to read my blog! Huuuugs!
