Makeup Review: Medtech Tinted Lip Balms by Beauty in Career
The makeup industry has revolutionized the concept of beauty throughout the years. Some makeup brands have pioneered innovations in their formula, and established out-of-this-world concepts through unlikely inspirations. Some have set the trend of what’s currently hot in the industry. Meanwhile, others have created interesting twists of creativity. While it’s true that makeup in itself is enough to make one giddy, it becomes even more interesting if there’s and added skincare benefit. Tinted lip balms are just one example. Though it’s not new, it’s a hit for being convenient especially for those who have little to no time for skincare or to apply makeup. The Medtech Tinted Lip Balms from Beauty in Career was definitely intriguing and got me hooked.
“Our concept of the tinted lip balms made us standout; that even if there are other lip balms out there that went viral, we weren’t left behind.”
– Beauty in Career
Oftentimes, I find it difficult to squeeze in my busy schedule my skincare routine. It requires a lot of effort and I usually forget about moisturizing my lips. Good thing that this Medical field-inspired tinted lip balms are perfect for go-tos. According to Beauty in Career, their inspiration behind the concept of the products’ name and packaging is the profession of the owner and the whole team as Medical Laboratory Scientists. The tinted lip balms are priced at P120.00 each. They are available for online purchase through their Facebook page, Beauty in Career, or through their Instagram page which is @beautyincareer. Beauty in Career also has a physical store at InstaCliqueMNL University Tower 1, Moret St., Sampaloc, Manila which is located near UST.
Makeup Breakdown
Packaging:
The Medtech Tinted Lip Balms come in a retractable plastic white packaging which is similar to that of Nivea’s, Maybelline’s and Burt’s Bees. It was sealed when I received it yet the shade names are located at the cap of the tubes, which I’m not in favor of. Consider the risk of losing and interchanging the cap with other shades. The body of the lip balm is designed with a multiple urine test strip which was confusing for me who’s not a medical student. Thus, I’m not sure of its purpose. There was no data about the product’s weight, ingredients, manufacturer, and date of manufacturing on the packaging.
Shade:
There are a total of 6 shades for the Medtech Tinted Lip Balms. The lightest shade is Protein which is a peachy nude, followed by Blood which is an old rose hue with a splash of red. Third is PH which is a mauve-pink and then pinkish-red Glucose. After that is Bilirubin which is a red with a hint of brown, and the darkest is Ketone which is a browner version of Bilirubin.
As observed there is not much difference in the shade selection because I believe that as tinted lip balms, they are more focused on giving “my lips but better” vibes.
Smell:
The products have a sweet scent which reminds me of bubblegum-scented candies. It lingers for a while but fades after.
Application:
Protein, Blood and PH are perfect for no makeup-makeup look because they give the right amount of flush. I don’t find them overpowering, nor distracting that whomever I speak to immediately looks at my lips. The three darkest shades were more opaque and glided on a tad bit smoother than the rest. Even though I did not exfoliate my lips, all of the shades did not emphasize or cling to the dry patches.
Performance:
- Upon application (12nn)
I applied the Glucose on my lips even without exfoliating prior to application. My lips felt plump, moisturized and healthy. This doesn’t dry matte so this tinted lip balm surely transfers.
- 3 hours after application (3PM)
The gloss-like or moisturizing look has eventually faded away, however, the tint looks as if it was just freshly applied. The fact that I did not eat or drink anything could be the reason why.
- 5 hours after application (5PM)
I observed that the inner part of the lips have faded after I ate pancit canton and drank water. However, the fading was not as intense as that of the Vice Cosmetics Water Gel Lip and Cheek Tint. It’s still bearable, and I think my lazy ass won’t mind it. I could just go on with my day. I tried to reapply it and there was no issue whatsoever.
Verdict:
I did not expect that I will love this product! For one, the shades are suitable for morena skintone and they’re easy to pull off. I’m already planning to put one on every bag I own so whenever I need TLC for my lips, I know I have one on hand. No excuses this time! The packaging enables easy application so there won’t be any excuses when I’m on commute and in need of retouch. Its longevity was impressive, to be honest. If there’s any change, I prefer that the information such as ingredients, manufacturer, date manufactured, and PAO be included for safety purposes and as a right to know as a consumer. All in all, I love it and I recommend it!
Thank you so much for reading my blog! My best friend did a review and swatch on the products as well. You can check out her video below. I recommend to subscribe to her; I promise you won’t regret it!

Wow! This is very pigmented for a lip balm! The color suits you well, cant wait to try this! Thanks!
Omg! I love the shades!!! You’re so good in reviewing make up products. Keep it up! 😊
I don’t see any distinct differences among the shades but I like the Protein shade best. I totally agree with what you mentioned about the packaging. Although it looks nice, maybe they should add the name of the shade in bottom part of the bottle as well. Anyway, I LOVE YOUR EYE MAKEUP! <3
BEs ang gaganda ng shades!!
