K-Poppin’: Merzy the First Velvet Tint
“Everyone has their own characteristic and beauty. It matters how to find the internal characteristics and beauty to express them.”
– Merzy
Does it ever occur that whenever you try something new, you somehow discover something interesting about yourself? It may be about the smallest details like the hem of your skirt, weight of your ring, or undertone of your highlighter. Whenever it happens to me, I always find it fascinating because I get to discover myself under other kinds of limelight. A little bit edgy, a little bit cute and young, or feeling like I could rule the world. It’s like playing with the spur of excitement, and I always find it to be of fun. That is the advocacy of Merzy – “another me inside of me” while not losing one’s self at all.
The First Velvet Tint from Merzy wants to inspire those who use it to open its arms on self-exploration through its shade selections. Interesting, isn’t it? I can’t wait to share my experience with you as I tried the First Velvet Tint for 12 hours on my lips. You can check it out on my CHARIS STORE where it’s sold for PHP490.00. Find out more on my verdict below to know if it’s worth it or not!

Makeup Breakdown
Packaging:
The product’s PAO is 12 months and it weighs 4.5 grams. It comes in a plastic black packaging where its brand, Merzy, is printed and is see-through. With that, you get to check the color of the product. It has a doe-foot applicator which, I believe, takes too much of the product so make sure that you scrape off the excess.
Shade:
There are a total of 6 shades where each name is derived from famous cocktail drinks. The cocktail tints’ names are as follows: Bloody Mary looks like a ripe tomato red, while Jack Rose appears an unripe apple MLBB (My Lips But Better). Meanwhile, Cassis Orange is described as a fresh and fizzy orange soda, and Shirley Temple’s hue is a shiny and bright ruby pomegranate. Peach Crush seems like a sweet and fresh peach pink, and lastly, Firenze Negroni appears attractive, sweet and sour brick-colored wine. I find it cute to get and feel tipsy through cocktail colors. Check out the swatches on my lips below for reference.
Smell:
The product smells like an alcohol-infused gummy bear. However, the smell does not linger so don’t worry much about it.
Application:
It was mentioned on their site that application is done through applying a thin amount of the product on the lip line. I find this the most effective way to make sure it blends on your lips for an effortless flush of color. It glides so smoothly on the lips. The tint may feel a bit greasy at first, but it completely dries as if you’re not wearing anything on your lips. However, it takes time for it to dry entirely.
Performance:
- Upon Application (7AM)
The tint looks even and very opaque. Also, my lips look very moisturized upon application.
- 6 hours after application (1PM)
The tint has noticeably faded on the inner parts of my lips. Also, the tint somehow settled on the natural creases or crack of my lips. I’ve eaten meals and drank different types of liquid by this time. However, I like that my lips don’t feel dry at all by this time even if I didn’t reapply the tint.
- 10 hours after application (5PM)
By this time, my lips look like it has a natural ombre tint to it. Though it has faded already on the inner part and my natural lip color has already penetrated, it staying for 10-hour and still looked like this is definitely a winner!
Verdict: I recommend it!
The Merzy First Velvet Tint claims to deliver a fluffy velvet texture that sets on your lips once applied. It still takes time for it to set, and once it has, it’s like you’re not wearing anything at all. I didn’t experience any build-up and patchy areas. My lips were evenly coated and my lips stayed moisturized throughout my 10-hour experience with it. Take note that I didn’t even reapply the tint. I think this is by far the best lip tint I’ve ever tried.
