Checked on the List 6 Months Before the Wedding
Sharing here our wedding journey 6 months before the wedding! Truthfully, we’ve experienced stress and rainbows along the way. However, we think that makes this wedding journey so worthwhile. I think we were able to book most of the important suppliers. That’s definitely a win!
If you haven’t seen, I’ve also written about what we’ve ticked off our to-do list 9 months before the wedding.
Photoshoot for STD and Invitations
Although not in our initial plan, we realized our engagement photos aren’t enough. We need photos for our wedding invitation. So, we tapped my HMUA since high school and my friend who does photography and videography for our pre-nup photos. We thought that we wanted the photos outside with nature so it would give the feel that’s as close to our wedding location. Luckily, we were able to visit this so-called “Playground of the Gods” last year, and we knew it’s the perfect choice. Think of Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, or Batanes; even New Zealand. This gives the same vibe. Although it was less than a 4-hour drive, it was definitely worth it!
Booked More Suppliers
We’re lucky that our wedding reception venue hosted a bridal fair 6 months before the wedding. Accredited suppliers were there. My fiance and I grabbed this chance to meet the suppliers personally, get to know them, and shoot our questions. We were able to book there our mobile bar, settle the lights, sounds and a dancefloor, plus our wedding coordinator.
Mobile Bar
We’ve initially scouted for mobile bars and this one’s in our top list. When we met them, all the more that we liked them because of their extensive services. Also, their products are priced decently. We don’t know much about alcohol, but we never felt intimidated when we talked to them. They gave suggestions based on our preferences. We love that they made us try and experience their products. What won me over was they have a pinterest-y wine thing – I should probably stop spilling but I’m just so excited!
Lights, Sounds, Dancefloor
This was an easy choice because they’ve always been there during events when I was still in the university. Additionally, we consulted our booked band whom they’ve worked with the best and this supplier was what they recommended. That speaks for itself. They got lights, sounds and oh my gosh – the dancefloor! Honestly, when we booked the dancefloor, I’m good to go! We’re not also aware of any technical stuff, but they were kind enough to explain and show photos on how the lights would look like.
Wedding Coordinator
I’ve asked around from about-to-be and already-married friends about their thoughts on wedding coordinators. Some mentioned it’s a need while some had opposite opinions. My fiance and I decided that an on-the-day coordinator is what we need. The reasons being we still got enough time on our hands and we wanna be hands on with the planning to make it as intentional as possible. We want to be involved and at least start building rapport with our suppliers. Personally, I wanna know all the details down to the minute ones. Maybe that’s just my personality speaking.
Makeup Artists & Groomer
This honestly took a lot of research and scrolling through social media. We also did interviews to know their work styles, experience, what they’re known for, and many many more. We finally found the MUA for me and my entourage that suits our taste and is reasonably priced 6 months before the wedding. Meanwhile, we wanted a separate supplier for grooming my fiance. Sadly there’s not much choice, but this one has been in the industry for a long time. Still a good choice, I’d say.
Photographer & Videographer
This was one of the most stressful suppliers to book! Don’t get me wrong, but this is because the variety of choices and styles are all so good. Actually, it’s overwhelming considering this is one of my fiance’s non-negotiables. It was like another world. It’s the first time I knew that there are styles like light and airy. We really took our time and thought of our choice thoroughly. Our decision points were influenced mainly by their length in the industry, their photography and videography styles, and their ability to meet our preferences. We’re definitely happy with this choice!
Again, we’re still so happy with our progress 6 months before the wedding. Also I love sharing this so I hope you get to pick ideas if you’re ongoing wedding planning like us. Let me know what you think of this post and recommend anything you’d like me to write about in the comments below.
