Janine‘s 11 Questions to Me:
-
Why did you start blogging?
My love for written and visual art made me start blogging. My dream of being a writer is still intensely alive in me. Though I know and admit that I need more experience to hone my writing, I realized that practicing it would eventually improve it. My love for makeup was also one of the reasons why I started my blog. There’s so much in the industry that it, sometimes, end up being difficult and overwhelming. I wanted to help makeup lovers like me to make sound decisions in their consumption. Lastly, which I realized when I was already in the “blogging world”, I wanted something more than just a past time, but a safe place for me which I can call me and myself. No rules, no deadlines, and no pressure; definitely my stress reliever.
-
What is your inspiration behind your blog name, if any?
Actually, I made tons and tons of research especially on blog names, or which they associate to branding. I write about beauty and lifestyle, with a little bit of everyday spice, which I’m not in any way a professional. With that, I ended up choosing my name instead for genuine purposes of assuring my readers that everything I write here is from a true and real person. No more playing around the bush, yet it’s straight up me – Yanna Paz.

If you had the chance to talk or give advice to your self on your first day as a blogger, what would you say?
If I had the chance to go back in time and advice my self on January 1st of 2018, I’d say this:
“Enjoy the process. You’ve been wanting to do this for a long time, so stay true to yourself. Don’t give in to the pressure of society, or the fad just because they’re on trend. Continue to do you and soon enough, you’ll appreciate how far you’ve come and become just because you stayed as the person you are.”
-
What is your life mantra? Explain what it means.
“Serve the people”. There’s a lot going on in our society, where at times there’s just nihilism and dirty games out where the winner already knows s/he’s going to win. Well, it’s true that I’m just a speck in this universe, but a speck vastly matters when it’s for the good of all. I’m glad I was from UP because the community is, I think, far beyond especially on sensitive topics and community involvement. I learned from the community how silence could kill the society, thus the importance of involving oneself even through mere discourses or researches. That is not my mantra because I’m an “Iskolar ng Bayan”, rather Filipinos deserve more than what we have now. We deserve justice and freedom. We deserve the best.
-
What do you love and hate most about blogging?
Hmmmmm… Interesting question, Janine! Let’s start with love first because that’s why I’m here. LOL. I love how dynamic it is with blogging. It’s probably because I’m a Gemini and I really hate routine. I love how powerful it is as a medium of influencing, and how entertaining it is. There’s so much to learn in blogging specially so that every blogger has different approaches and strategies. I hate blogging when it’s used just for fame purposes or just to get free PRs from companies, ugh!
-
Would you rather go back to the past, or jump to the future? (No in between)
I’d rather go back to the past! I want to savor the moment of every lasts I had. I have no plans of doing things otherwise, but I just want to refresh my mind of the last times I had especially with my late dad.
-
Is there a dream that you had to let go of?
None, really! However, I believe that I will reach my dreams soon. Fate could be playful because I may reach them in the least expected way. I just had to trust in time and in God’s will.
-
If you could rewrite the ending of one famous movie or series, how would you choose to end it?
I would definitely rewrite the ending of The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies where Thorin died! I was sobbing like a 5-year old at the theater when it happened. I think Azor’s death was already enough. Just erase Thorin’s death, and replace it with something like he had to travel far and leave the Lonely Mountain but will soon come back. Meh.
-
What is the most unique or unusual food that you’ve eaten?
Okay, I’m a boring person when it comes to food. I’m a picky eater and I have mood with food haha! I may love to eat a certain dish now but after some time, hate it already. Food and me, well, we’re just really not in good terms. I don’t consider myself a food lover and I’m quite scared of getting sick in the future because of eating too much. Hmmmmmm, probably balot? (But I don’t eat the duck huhu poor thing). Let’s just move to the next question LOL.
-
Would you rather be extremely good at something you hate doing or suck tremendously at something you love doing?
I’d rather be extremely good at something I hate! I make sure that I have a positive mindset in everything I do so it’s pretty safe to say that I will eventually find the good in it. Just because I hate it now, does not automatically mean that I’ll hate it for a long time, right? Also, there’s always a good side with everything.
-
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done and would you do it again?
Up to date, blogging is the craziest thing I’ve ever done! I’m an anxious person and there are times where emotions get in my nerves, which result to my over-sensitive self. I’m not fond of myself being that kind of person but this really meant like moving mountains! I may appear confident but I’m actually a shy person. My boyfriend and close friends had to build my confidence; they succeeded hence this blog I gave birth to!

“Serve the People!” It’s great to know that you’re from UP too. I worked in Korea for two years and one of the reasons why I came back is to Serve the People. Now that I’m back in the Philippines. I’m serving our barangay as their SK Secretary. It feels good to be with kababayans!
