Skin Care Review: Going Green with Chlorophyll by Mustus

I have always been on the search for the most effective skin care for my dull and dry skin. However, scanning through the ingredients is overwhelming in itself. Moreover, with the countless skin care products in the market, it’s easy to just be swayed with what is on trend, and what works for others.

On my searching journey, I came across Mustus, which is a Korean brand, which means fresh in Latin. I was interested with the brand’s inspiration with its products as it is rooted with nature, specifically how plants protect themselves from pests. This “self-vitality” process of plants became Mustus’ approach in designing and formulating their products. Since the turnover of the human skin is every 28 days, Mustus’ products focus on helping the skin breathe from the pollution and dirt from the environment.

Plants are enough.

Mustus believes that going green is the therapy for troubled skin. Hence, I tried its products which has chlorophyll as its main ingredient for three (3) weeks, and I must say that being a skin vegetarian has brought drastic improvement on my skin. Particuarly, I tried the Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad, Chlo Ampoule and Chlo Gel Cream and I’m very much excited to share my experience with you.

Mustus Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad

This product claims to eliminate old keratin and impurities with mild peeling, while smoothing out skin texture. It claims to bring about smooth, clear and healthy skin through eliminating old dead skin cell and skin wastes. It contains the following major ingredients:

• Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll is the green pigment present in plants, and it absorbs light to permit photosynthesis. When used on the skin, chlorophyll has a detoxifying effect, fights acne and clears breakout because of its amazing germ killing action. It enhances wound healing and it has natural anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.

• PHA (Poly Hydroxy Acids)

PHA is a type of chemical exfoliant packed with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits properties which is advisable for sensitive skin. It causes less irritation than AHA and BHA because it has relatively larger molecular size.

Packaging:

Each of the Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad is packed in a small pastel green packaging. It’s as thin as a paper and it’s really travel friendly. Once opened, you’ll find the pad soaked in serum and it has two kinds of surfaces with varying purposes.

Smell:

It doesn’t smell of anything strong or chemical-like at all. It smells clean and leaning towards citrus-y scent.

Precautions:

Avoid the eye area specially when using the embossed/rough side.

Application:

The Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad has double layered gauze pad perfect for removing dead skin. It has firm gauze or embossed side and a soft pure cotton side.

According to the packaging, the Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad is recommended to be applied through:

1. Using the embossed/rough side of the pad to gently wipe chin, around nose, etc. except around eyes after cleansing; and

2. Using the smooth side of the pad on the other side to refine skin texture and lightly pat to absorb the remaining content.

Mustus Chlo Ampoule

The Chlo Ampoule claims to balance oil and moisture for moisturized and smoother skin without the sticky feeling and finish. To add, this product gets absorbed easily into the skin and provides deep replenishing. It is recommended for sensitive, and rough and dull skin. Also, it boasts with antioxidant properties and its natural green color is natural and doesn’t include any artificial color. The Chlo Ampoule has the following main ingredient:

• Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll is the green pigment present in plants, and it absorbs light to permit photosynthesis. Packaging:

The product comes in a circular glass container with a dropper as its cap. The content can easily be seen through its glass packaging, so it’s easy to tell if you’re running low of the product. If you plan to bring this with you when you travel, extra caution is needed because it could easily break. In addition, the Chlo Ampoule does not feel luxurious when held.

Smell:

Similar to the Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad, the Chlo Ampoule has its citrus kick to its smell. It reminds me of the smell of syrup for babies.

Application:

According to its packaging, the Chlo Ampoule is recommended to be applied through applying 3-4 drops of it all over the face.

Mustus Chlo Gel Cream

The Chlo Gel Cream further intensifies the claim of the two previous products, Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad and Chlo Ampoule. Also, it completes the set through balancing oil and moisture through providing hydration for moisturized and healthier skin without the sticky feeling. Furthermore, it promises to clear the skin with its watery gel texture. Meanwhile, it has its natural green color which is purely natural because of its main ingredient which is chlorophyll.

• Chlorophyll is the green pigment present in plants, and it absorbs light to permit photosynthesis. Besides, when used on the skin, chlorophyll has a detoxifying effect, fights acne and clears breakout because of its amazing germ killing action. Moreover, it enhances wound healing and it has natural anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.

It has systematic ingredient as well for troubled skin specifically Parsley Extract (Chlorophyll), PHA, Papaya Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree Extract), and Sepicontrol A5.

Packaging:

The Chlo Gel Cream is packed in a glass container which also needs extra caution if brought to travel because it could easily break. Further, there is also no dipper to get the product so you have to make sure that your hands/fingers are clean before you dip it in to avoid contamination.

Smell:

The Chlo Gel Cream has a similar smell with the Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad and Chlo Ampoule. It smells clean and citrus-like.

Application:

Based from the packaging, a sufficient amount of the product should be applied all over the face. Also, it is recommended to use this product after using the Chlo Ampoule.

Verdict: I recommend this product!

These three products by Mustus were very much loved by my dry and sensitive skin. Also, plus points for its Eco-friendly packaging. The brand used soy ink for the prints! However, before I dive into the details why I recommend this, I just want to share first how I used the products on my face. The manner of using these products is as follows:

1. Gauze Peeling Pad – at night only | every other day
2. Ampoule – at night only | every day
3. Gel Cream – at night only | every day

For three weeks that I have used the Chlo Gauze Peeling Pad, Chlo Ampoule and Chlo Gel Cream, the following are my observations:

1. I never experienced any dry patches
2. My skin less dull-looking and more vibrant.
3. Furthermore, I also observed that my pimple marks have lightened faster.
4. The textures on my nose and chin were treated, making my skin smooth and supple.
5. Lastly, the finish of my make-up is far better than before.
