My Skin Care Routine

Hello, beautiful soul! Let’s talk about skin care this time. You bet this is the most requested by my readers, so here it is. Before anything else, I’m not a professional when it comes to skin care. I just did my research and trusted my instincts (and prayed to the Almighty the products won’t break me out).

To start off, I’ll talk about my skin type and issues. I have dry to normal skin. The area around my eyebrows down to my brow bone, sides of my nose, cheeks and chin are the areas where I usually get dry patches. It was so severe back then that sometimes they would get flaky, too. That definitely affected my self-esteem. I steered away from using loose powders, and just hope for my facial oils to just make the situation better; even just a little bit. There were times when my face would hurt as if my skin were pulling apart from each other whenever I do facial expressions. Bottom line is – it was a disaster. I was just using facial wipes to remove my makeup at the end of the day, and then use pure water in the morning. I didn’t do any extra steps. However whiteheads started to lurk on my nose, forehead and chin area. I tried to exfoliate but it made my skin drier than it actually was.  I knew I had to invest on skin care. A weekly visit to the spa for a facial would be too expensive for me.

I will share to you the products I use, and how I use them.

P.S. Althea.kr is always on sale. The prices that I indicated for those coming from Althea were the original; visit the site every now and then for their discounted prices.

Night Time

  1. Cleanser

For simple looks, like my 10-minute daily makeup routine, I use my Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water Waterproof Makeup Remover. I just put it on cotton rounds and use this to remove my eye makeup only. I don’t do a dragging motion around my eyes. However, I just let the wet cotton rounds sit on my eyes for 1-2 minutes until all the mascara and eyeshadow are removed.

I got mine from overseas but there are resellers from Shoppee

For times when I’m wearing a heavy makeup look and false eyelashes, I use the Banila Co Clean It Zero in Classic on my eyes. I just get the right amount on my fingers, then massage it slowly and gently around my eyes. Afterwards, I emulsify it with lukewarm water and continue to massage my eye area. Rinse or wash off with damp towel or tissue.  Remember to not tug the area around the eyes! That part is very sensitive and prone to wrinkles.

For the rest of the face, I use the PureDerm Argan Oil Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes to remove the foundation, concealer and powders. I always make sure that I also clean my neck area.

After I do the steps mentioned above, I proceed to my facial cleanser. I’m using my The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Foaming Cleanser. I lather it on my hands first with water then massage it afterwards on my face on a circular motion. I have dull skin and I wanted something that would brighten up my complexion without drying it out. I’ve heard that rice was good for the skin, and yes! I really like it.

  1. Toner

Then, I apply my toner on a cotton round. I always make sure that I just get the right amount of product – around 4-5 drops is already enough. I’m using my RiRe Pore Tightening Fresh Toner. This product was featured as one of the bestsellers of 2017 on the Althea.kr site so I gave it a go. This product admits to have pure total care, intensive moisturizing and balance care. It has Amazon White Clay, Volcanic Ash Extract, Tea Tree Extract and Aloe Leaf Extract. It claims that it doesn’t have paraben, talc, mineral oil, silicon and artificial dyes. All that good claims allured my instincts so I tried it. I’m happy that this product helped in reducing my whiteheads. It also removes impurities that my cleanser was not able to. I love this product so much.

  1. Essence

Afterwards, I use my Power 10 Formula VE Effector by It’s Skin. This essence claims to deeply nourish and moisturize the skin for a radiant glow. I could attest this product’s claim. I think it was able to deliver what it promised to. My skin looked healthier and far more radiant as before. This product comes with a dropper, so what I do is I put four drops on each finger of my left hand except for the thumb then mix it for a few seconds with my other hand just to make sure that my fingers feel warm. This makes sure that my skin will absorb the essence better. I apply the essence in a gentle tapping manner on the face and in an upward motion for my neck.

  1. Special Steps

  • Mud Mask

I apply a mud facial mask twice a week, specifically on Wednesday night and Saturday night. I use the Banila Co Hi Bye Clean Up Mud Facial Mask. This serves as a deep cleanser and an exfoliator to make sure that my skin is really clean. I do this in between my facial wash and toner.

  • Hydration Mask

Sometimes when my skin feels a bit dry and I need extra hydration, I apply my Banila Co Dear Hydration Sleeping Mask. I apply this after my essence and I leave it on my face all throughout the night.

  • Mask

When I feel a little extra extra, I apply a mask. This actually depends on my mood. Mask is a highly recommended skin care product because you get the boost that you need even you’re a busy bee. Almost all masks take only around 10-15 minutes on the face. This is ideal if you’re travelling or simply too busy to do your skin care. What’s good about masks is that there’s always some product left so you can use it to moisturize your elbows, knees, neck, or just any body part you want to.

Day Time

For the day time, I use my The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Foaming Cleanser to cleanse the face. I also use it to get rid of the natural oil on my face, because your skin still secretes oil even if you’re sleeping! After that, I use my Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater as my moisturizer and to give my skin a boost that I need for the day.

That’s it for my skin care routine! These products have helped in removing the dry patches and flakes of my skin.  My skin has also looked radiant and healthy as ever. The whiteheads that were once obvious have already toned down. I could say that my skin is now leaning towards normal.
