Makeup Review: Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

Hello, beautiful soul! “I woke up like this” is the inspiration for the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. As its name claims, it says that it delivers undetectable foundation that gives a skin-like effect. The finish is natural and has medium to full coverage. It also claims that it gives a radiant finish because it is made up of coconut water, Alpine Rose, and Hyaluronic Acid which all delivers moisturized, fresh and brightened complexion. This product is priced $39 at Too Faced while P2350.00 at Sephora.ph.

I’m still on the quest to look for a foundation with natural finish. I’m very excited to try this for the first time and I’m here to share my thoughts. If you’re also looking for a foundation that you would want to invest in or you’re simply interested to give this a try, my review could help you!

Makeup Breakdown

Packaging:

You get 30 mL from The Born This Way Foundation. It comes in a glass bottle which does not come travel-friendly. You can easily control and dispense the product because this has a cap. The packaging itself looks cute and a little bit sophisticated. You also get to see the shade on the glass bottle.

Shade:

Currently, this foundation has 24 shades. The undertone varies from yellow, gold, peach, and neutral. I could say that the shade range is good enough and I think that you could find your shade. However, I think that the darker side of the shade range could be expanded even more.

Smell:

The product has a little bit of masculine scent, but it’s hardly noticeable.

Application:

It feels like you’re not wearing any product at all. The product melts and looks just like the skin. It does what it says that it gives a natural coverage.

Performance:

I moisturized my skin before I applied the foundation. A damped sponge is what I used to apply the foundation on my face. I will not touch up throughout the day to test how this makeup works on my skin.

• Upon application (6AM):

The foundation looks flawless. It has medium coverage but it did not cover up my zit mark. I tried to build the coverage on my T-zone area and it did not appear cakey at all. I was surprised that it did not cling on my dry patches and did not emphasize the textures on my nose and chin even if I built the coverage. My skin was radiant and “shiny-looking” especially on my forehead area even after setting it with powder. Mind you, there’s no greasy feeling at all!

• 6 hours after application (12NN):

The foundation looks like how it did 6 hours ago! My forehead was a bit shinier but there was no oil. It was pure hydration. I wore this to work and my officemates mentioned that this looks natural and fresh that I don’t need to touch-up anymore. So far so good!

• 9 hours after application (3PM):

So far, I’m really loving this foundation. Although my skin looked even shinier from the 6^th hour mark, it’s still the healthy kind of shine. It may look like you’re oily, but what always shocks me is that it’s not actually oil. It’s merely the foundation and its radiant effect. The finish has remained skin-like. I also noticed that my blush has also stayed in place this long. Usually, I observe that my blush seldom stays until the 8^th hour mark but did otherwise as applied over this foundation.

• 12 hours after application (6PM): 

As you can see, the foundation started to wear off. My pimple mark was gradually becoming more noticeable as the hours passed. Same observation applies on my chin area but I might have rubbed some of the foundation off unintentionally as I was touching my face from time to time (not a good habit, i know). The forehead situation where it looked oily has started to feel that way as well.

Verdict:

Its first claim: skin-like effect. I truly agree! The foundation looks so natural that it’s easy to get away by saying it’s natural. Also, this foundation feels so lightweight; you really feel like you’re not wearing foundation at all!

Its second claim: radiant finish. I was very impressed! This foundation makes you look so fresh, glowing, and moisturized like you had a good night’s sleep, even if you didn’t. It has achieved that without a tacky-feeling upon application. I don’t also see the need to touch up.
