Makeup Review: Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder

Squad Cosmetics aims to empower Generation Z, born from mid- to late-1990s to early 2010s, through its products. One if which is the Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder which is a lightweight and ultra-fine pressed powder. It promises to help blot excess oil for all skin tones due to its smooth texture. Also, it claims to effectively cover up enlarged pores, spots, and blemishes.

Squad Cosmetics is a makeup brand that speaks about self-expression. It claims to be the go-to makeup brand of teenagers. The products are designed to be aligned to the brand’s mantra “We Got You!“. Makeup Breakdown

Packaging:

The Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder is packaged in a peach plastic packaging. It has a mirror which I think is of the right size and a sponge applicator. You don’t have to worry once you hit pan since the product is in a refillable magnetic case. Its refill is priced at Php 99 which is actually cheap.  In addition, its net weight is 11 grams. The product’s PAO is 24 months and it’s also cruelty-free.

Shade:

This product comes in 6 different shades: Ivory, Light, Warm Light, Beige, Warm Beige, and Tan. You may check out the shades here. The shade warm light is perfect for me.

Smell:

This pressed powder doesn’t have a smell. It’s actually its sponge applicator which has a faint rubbery smell that lingers to the powder.

Price:

This Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder is priced at Php 299. You can shop it through Shopee, BeautyMNL, and Lazada. As of writing, this product is Squad Cosmetics’ second most expensive next to Squad Cosmetics 4pcs Brush Promo.

Application:

The first time I tried to swatch the product on my skin, it felt very buttery and velvety on the skin. It has a sheer to light coverage. The powder is very easy to apply and I had no trouble blending it. I followed the product’s advice on how to apply which is as follows:

  • Apply the Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder on the oiliest part of your face.
  • Gently sweep over the rest of the face.
  • Tap gently so that the product settles in.
  • Meanwhile, to even the complexion, freely apply all over the face.
  • Build up the preferred coverage, or touch up whenever necessary.

Performance:

  • Upon Application (8 AM)
Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder

The Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder was able to cover some of the redness of my pimple marks, hence it gave me a bit of a fair complexion. It was also able to make my face matte, yet it doesn’t look skin-like because it appeared very powdery. It also clings on my dry patches and appeared weird on top of my lips.

  • 4 Hours After Application (12 NN)

After 4 hours on the skin with no retouch, the product has already substantially faded even if I have a dry skin type. I asked my mom to comment on it and she answered, “it looks like you don’t have anything on”. The product might have blended on my natural oil and it looked less powdery. However, this made me wonder how it would have looked like on those with oily skin types. My pimple marks can already be seen as well.

  • 8 Hours After Application (4 PM)

My face looks oily on my forehead and cheeks as the Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder has been on for 8 hours. The product has already fully faded as seen in the photo above.

Verdict: I don’t recommend this product!

Claims:

  • Lightweight pressed powder with a smooth texture

I agree that this pressed powder has a smooth texture. It feels buttery smooth when applied. However, be careful when you try to layer this product to achieve your desired coverage because it appears powdery and not skin-like.

  • Helps blot excess oil

I believe this product works best as a retouch powder because it’s able to blot excess oil. Although, I don’t recommend this as a substitute to foundation especially if you want to cover pimple marks or want an even skin tone with a natural finish. Hence as a powder targeted for Generation Z, I don’t think that it’s able to justify its price. More so that this Squad Cosmetics You Can Face It Pressed Powder won’t be able to hold oil for long.

  • Effectively covers up enlarged pores, spots, and blemishes

I wasn’t satisfied with how its finish looks like. Although I was able to achieve the desired coverage through layering, it was too powdery and it appeared unnatural.

  • Perfect for all skin types

This product won’t look good on dry skin type, unless well-moisturized since it will cling on dry patches. Meanwhile, this product has to be used more often by those with oily skin type since it is not capable of holding oil for long. At this time, majority of the Generation Z are in their teens and their growth hormones are at peak. That means they are more prone to breakouts. This powder, I think, won’t be the best choice.
