Makeup Breakdown
Packaging:
The L’oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain is packaged in a very luxurious matte plastic tube. You get to see through the packaging the shade of the product. I love how luxurious its packaging feels and looks. It has a tear-drop doe-foot applicator which allows enough amount of product to be applied on the lips. According to its box, a product weighs 7ml and its PAO is 12 months.
Shade:
As of writing, this lip product has 14 wide range of shades. There are bold reds, nudes, pinks, plums, and purples that will surely fit any style and mood one has. I tried with me two shades: “I Am Worth It” which is a bold red, and “I Choose” which is a pinky-mauve shade.

Smell:
This product has a hint of powdery, vanilla, and flowery smell which actually smells nice. The smell does not linger for a long time.
Price:
The L’oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain is available in Shopee and Lazada and it retails for Php 399. It’s a bit pricey. However, since it can be used for both cheeks and lips, then it justifies its price.
Application:
The product can be applied as follows according to L’oreal:
- Apply first at the center of the upper lip.
- From the center, work it towards the outer edge while following the mouth’s contour.
- Afterward, glide the L’oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain across the bottom lip then fill it in.
- An oil-based makeup remover can remove this product. If you have the L’oreal Waterproof Micellar Water, then you may opt to use it.
From my experience, I just apply the product like how I normally do with lip products. I was amazed at how even the product applied to my lips even if it has a watery consistency. It applied smoothly, with no tugging. Also, it doesn’t feel heavy on the lips which I love. However, I noticed that this product takes time to fully dry and achieve that matte finish it claims. I’d say it took 2 to 3 minutes before it fully dried. I tried to test if the L’oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain is transfer-proof once it has dried. It does transfer a little bit, so I advise to blot it with a tissue.
Performance:
- Upon Application
The L’oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain looks matte but not dry at all. My lips feel and look moisturized, still. It felt as if I don’t have any lip product because it’s so lightweight.
- 2 Hours After Application
After 2 hours and a meal devoured, the product faded from the inner center of my lips. It is actually obvious and requires retouch already. However, based on my experienced, the shade “I Am Worth It” was more difficult to remove than what I wear-tested. I think those with reddish undertones are more difficult to remove.
Verdict: I recommend this product!
Claims:
- Ultra-lightweight, fresh matte finish, and lasting wear
The L’oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain feels very lightweight. It doesn’t feel like I was wearing makeup since it dries full matte. The only downside I see is that it takes time for this product to fully dry. It lasts a very long time, however, when you eat, you have to reapply the product again. I observed also that the shade “I am Worth It” is more difficult to remove than “I Choose”. It’s not totally transfer-proof so I advise you to blot if you don’t want it smudging on your face mask.
- High color impact with no makeup-feel
I am amazed at this product’s formula. Even if it is watery, it is opaque and applies evenly throughout the lips. I did not experience any weird patches, or tugging. Its finish actually reminds me of Maybelline’s Sensational Liquid Matte.
- Precise application due to its applicator
I don’t think I’ll have any problem applying the L’oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain in the dark or even when I am feeling tipsy. Its applicator is easy to use due to its bent design. I love it!
