Beautiful Skin Achieved with LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation
This makeup product has been a cult-favorite due to its smooth long-wear suede finish and its ability to stay matte throughout the day. The LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation delivers a medium to full coverage while minimizing the appearance of pores and fine lines. No matter if worn during the day or night, this product won’t leave you any worries.
I have long been interested to try this product and see if it works on my normal to dry skin type. I became even more excited to know that this product has a paraben-free formula. Also, it has Vitamin E, B5, and sunflower oil which hydrates, reduces fine lines due to aging, and boosts the overall health of the skin.
If you want to know more about this product and if it works well even for normal to dry skin type, then please keep on reading!
Makeup Breakdown
Packaging:
The LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation is packaged in a glass cylindrical bottle which has a suede-like feel. Although this product is not bulky., I think that this product is not ideal to bring when traveling because of its glass packaging. Nonetheless, you are able to see the product’s color through the bottle. I like that this product has a pump, which dispenses the product easily and hygienically. It weighs 1 fl. oz. or 30 mL and has a PAO of 12 months.
Shade:
This foundation has a total of 24 shades. This product claims that it is able to give options for varying complexions from light to medium then deep tones. For this review, I am trying out the shade GLM674 (Natural) which is a warm-tone. You may check out all the shades through the LA Girl website.
Smell:
It has a very faint smell that dies down easily. I don’t think it would be a problem at all if you are sensitive to scents.
Price:
The LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation retails for P825 from the La Girl Philippines Lazada Store and P799 from BeautyMNL. There are also resellers in Lazada and Shopee selling this foundation for around half the price. However, make sure that it’s an original product.
Application:
This product may be applied using a makeup sponge or a brush. For my review, I applied the LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation using a brush on the right side of my face, while a damp makeup sponge on the left side.
Based on the result, I am leaning more towards using a makeup sponge to apply this product. I think that it was easier for me to build the coverage I like through dabbing, rather than sweeping using a brush. Also, I got a more even application when I used a makeup sponge. Nonetheless, I did not experience any trouble while I applied the rest of my makeup even if i didn’t use a setting powder.
Performance:
The left picture was taken upon application, at 10 in the morning. Meanwhile, the other one was after 8 hours. I could say that the LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation did a great job to hold my natural oils. Take note though that what you see is my glass-skin rather than oil (thanks to my Snail White Glow Potion Toner).
Moreover, I did not set my foundation with any setting powder to make sure that I am able to test how it truly works. There are a few places, like around the mouth and tip of my nose, where the makeup has obviously faded since I brushed my teeth and casually rubbed my nose.
Verdict: I recommend the LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation!
Claims:
- Medium to full coverage
I agree that this product delivers medium to full coverage. No worries when building up the coverage since the finish will still look natural and suede-like. Just remember to properly prep and moisturize the face before putting this on!
- Smooth long-wear suede finish
There was no tacky feeling after applying this product with 2 pumps. I find that it dries easily, and I immediately fell in love with how it felt after it has finally dried down. My face totally felt and look like suede.
- Covered and shine-free all-day
Yup, the LA Girl Pro Matte Foundation will have you covered from day to night. By dusting a little bit of setting powder, I think that this product will definitely keep you shine-free all day; even beyond my 8-hour wear test.
- Minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines
My face looked more even and it has a soft-focus effect. However, it becomes less obvious as the foundation starts to blend in with the natural oils.
