3 Looks, 1 Palette: Lustrous by Nadine Lustre x BYS

Hello, beautiful soul! This summer season is the perfect time to be bold and flaunt that body while basking in the glory of the sun’s kiss. Playing with eyeshadows and popping lip colors is just one way to enjoy this hot season, especially for makeup lovers like me. Nadine Lustre released a collaboration with BYS this summer and amidst all the hundreds of reviews you’ve already seen, I was still curious and eager to play with the palette because I love the colors (and Nadine, duh). I purchased the eyeshadow in 01 Calypso, and thought of sharing makeup looks that could be done with it.

I thought of three different summer themes and based the looks from them.

Three Looks Using Lustrous Eyeshadow Palette in Calypso

I drew the eye templates myself, okay. No hate please.
If you’re interested in drawing me an eye template, hit me up.

1. Sunkissed by the Beach

For this look, I imagined an eye makeup which resonates the golden hour. It’s like the perfect time to just chill and lay on the sand, while hanging out with friends.

Steps:

Pack the copper shade on the entire lid.
Across your entire lash line, apply the red shade as close as possible.
Mix the pink, copper and red shades for the inner corner highlight.

2. Afternoon Delight

The inspiration behind this look is for dates to be spent by the beach. This look could be worn until dinner and dessert time *wink*.

Steps:

Apply the copper shade on the crease with a fluffy blending brush.
Pack the red shade on the inner and outer parts of the lid, leaving the center bare.
Pack the pink shadow on the center to complete the halo look.
Mimic the look on the lid to the lower lash line.
Use the pink that was on the center of the lid for the inner corner she-bang.

3. Cold Summer Nights

This look is perfect when attending parties or weddings where the venue is on the beach side. It has the right amount of drama and sultriness because it’s a smokey look.

Steps:

Use the darkest shade on the crease.
Focus it on the outer part while diffusing it on the center to the inner parts of the crease.
Pack the red eyeshadow on the outer part of the lid.
Pack the pink shade on the inner part of the lid and blend it on the middle with the red shade that was applied before.
Line the upper lash line with the darkest eyeshadow from the palette.
Create a gradient effect by applying the copper shade on the inner lower lash line, followed by red on the middle and the darkest shade on the outer.
Highlight the inner corner and brow bone with the lightest shade in the palette.

Thoughts on the palette:

  • The lightest shade in the palette has the only chunky and powdery consistency. It’s not a good formula.
  • The pink shade is shimmer, and the rest is metalllic.
  • All has terrible fallout, so blending could be messy. I suggest finishing the eye makeup first before the face makeup.
  • Wetting the brush helps a lot for the pigmentation and longevity of the shades.
